No testing has overtaken you that is not common to everyone. God is faithful, and he wil
l not let you be tested beyond your strength, but with the testing he will also provide the way out so that you may be able to endure it.
(I Corinthians 10:13)
This is a verse that gets used a lot when people are going through difficult times. People will say to others, remember that God will not give you more than you can handle. This is good news for that Scripture promises to us that God is watching over us and is protecting us in the sense that God will not overload us with too much.
However, when one is going through a particularly difficult time the verse can sometimes sound shallow in that it does feel like you are being overwhelmed and it can make one question this promise of Scripture.
When we are in the midst of a particularly difficult time, it may seem like it is too much and that there is no way that we will be able to handle all that is coming our way. However, we need to hold on to this verse and trust that God is with us and that no matter what comes our way—God will see us through everything.
I wonder if the difficulty is that sometimes things may not work out the way that we WANT them and thus it may appear that God is putting more on us then we can handle. Rather, we need to be patient and trust in God, that somehow, someway—God’s will shall be done and that God is with us and enables us to endure whatever trial we may be encountering. Just because we do not get the outcome that we desire, does not mean that we are being overwhelmed or unable to endure the hardships—but that we simply need to step back and trust in God. For while, we may have a certain outcome in mind for our trials, in reality God may have a better plan for us than we could ever imagine.
Trust in God’s word and that God will be with you and walk with you through all of the hardships and trials that you will encounter throughout your life.
