May 2011
Dear Parents,
As the last month of the school year speeds by, we must also think about summer and the coming
fall. We have tried to prepare your child physically, mentally, and socially for Kindergarten. We
cannot stress enough the importance of reading with your child. You should choose subjects that
are interesting to your child, but keep it short, as their attention spans are not very long. This does
very greatly from one child to the next.
On May 6th, at 9:30 am the Sunbeam class will visit kindergarten at Cortland.
On May 16th , we have planned our Summer Birthday Party. This will be a fun day. We will play
games and each “birthday” child may bring a treat to share, if they wish.
The annual PICNIC–IN-THE-PARK will be Wednesday, May 18th. We will meet at the regular time.
We will practice the graduation program and then at 10:15 we will go to the Picnic Grove. We ask
your child to bring a sack lunch. We would like to invite parents and family to join us in the picnic
grove. If you plan to eat with your child, bring their lunch with yours, we plan on eating around 11
a.m. If you cannot eat with your child, plan to pick them up from the picnic grove at 11:30 a.m. This
will be LAST DAY OF CLASS.
END-OF-THE-YEAR Celebration and Graduation will be Wednesday, May 18th at 7:00 p.m. Only the
Sunbeam class will graduate but the Rainbow class will be part of the graduation program.
We would like both classes here no later than 6:50 p.m. The caps and tassels are for the graduates
to keep. Graduates NO ponytails and No flip flops, We recommend that the Graduates wear shorts
and little hair spray for girls and boys.
In order to help with refreshments for our graduation, we are asking each of our “graduates” to furnish
one dozen cookies. These may be either homemade or store-bought and may be brought to
school with your child on the morning of the 18th. We would also ask some mothers from the Rainbow class to help serve refreshments after the program. Please let us know, if you can help.
We have enjoyed watching your child “grow” and we are glad that you have shared this small part of
your little one’s life with us. We have been blessed— Children are truly a most precious gift from God.
Have A Great Summer!!
