Readings for the Day:
Isaiah 51:1-3: It is implied that they were solid people of faith. Isaiah wants us to remember them with such fondness because they were the very beginning of God’s chosen family.
I Corinthians 10:1-4: Paul recounts the Hebrews peoples’ journey out of Egypt and how they all ate the same spiritual food and drink. He then says that spiritual food and drink ultimately is Jesus.
Matthew 7:24-26: Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount, teaches about the difference between the wise and foolish. The difference is the foundation upon which they build their lives.

Questions To Ponder:
1— Why does Isaiah want us to remember Abraham and Sarah with such fondness? (Isaiah 51:1-3)
2—How do you daily consume spiritual food and drink? (I Corinthians 10:1-4)
3—What does it look like for you to build your life upon the true foundation, Jesus—the rock? (Matthew 7:24-26)
4—How do these texts speak to you today?
Prayer: O Jesus, you are the rock in which we take refuge. Protect us from danger, and continue to be the firm foundation upon which we build our lives of faith. Your birth in Bethlehem reminds us that God’s promises are solid and strong. We stand secure on those promises from God as we move forward in our faith, trusting you as our salvation through the ages. Amen.
