December 22 Worship

Readings for the Day:
Exodus 13:21-22:  The story of the Exodus tells us that the Israelites were led by a pillar of fire as they traveled at night.  This proclaimed to the Israelites that God would be with them through all their literal or figurative dark times.
2 Corinthians 4:5-7:  Paul reminds us that it is important to remember that the light of Christ comes from God and not from ourselves.  This light of Christ reveal the glory of God.
Matthew 5:14-16:  Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount, teaches that we are the light of the world, because we have Jesus, the true light of the world, living in us.

Questions To Ponder:
1— What did the pillar of fire tell the Israelites about God (Exodus 13:21-22)
2—Where does the light out of darkness shine? (2 Corinthians 4:5-7)
3—Why should we never hide our light? (Matthew 5:14-16)
4—How do these texts speak to you today?

Prayer:  O Light of the World, enlighten the hearts of all your people as we serve one another with the glow of God’s glory within us.  Dispel all fear from us.  Cast out the darkness of sin that clings to us, and release us to brighten the lives of all people with the news of your birth among us to save us.  Amen.
